COURSE OVERVIEW
Course Description:
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.
They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
Selection Criteria
Students will need to meet the Selection Criteria requirements to be eligible to enter into this course. Evidence of the student meeting the Selection Criteria will be collected as part of the Enrolment process.
· Student must have relevant employment in the Building and Construction Industry in a company with business administration function and more than 5 employees, or owner of owner- operated company. Their job would include administration or sales responsibilities.
· Must be over the age of 18 years
· Willingness and ability to undertake a language literacy and numeracy test, which demonstrates;
· Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts.
· Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
· Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics
Mode of Assessment
Observation/Practical Skills – A range of observation techniques have been included in the assessment tools to help identify the students’ ability to demonstrate their competence against the performance criteria and assessment conditions. The assessor utilises the Observation Checklist to identify observable skills either during a practical assessment or through the creation of role plays based on workplace scenarios or the student demonstrates the skills on the job.
Written – A written assessment tool is provided to the student to gather evidence using a range of methods, these could include short answer questions, long answer questions, scenario based questions, or multiple choice.
Third Party Reports – a Third Party Report is provided to a supervisor or employer to gather evidence of the students’ competency on the job, which includes observations and written questions for the Supervisor to complete. This Report is then reviewed and signed off by the Assessor.
Case Studies – This method is used to provide the learner with the opportunity to apply their required knowledge within a given context, providing the student with a task whereby they can apply their skills to a real life example.
Portfolio of Evidence – The student is required to collect a Portfolio of Evidence to demonstrate their competency against the relevant units, these could include: copies of Position Description and Resume, Workplace documents, forms, reports, minutes and third party feedback from employers, clients and supervisors. This method is used for the RPL Kit to recognise prior learning.

Work Placement Criteria for your Course with Positive Training Academy
Congratulations on your decision to take a positive step to develop your career with Positive Training Academy. To complete the enrolment process and start your course you will need to be in current employment at least 20 hours per week, and provide PTA with the attached “Workplace Assessment Agreement – Existing Workers” (WAA) signed by you and your supervisor.
For BSB51918, you will need to be in a job role that enables you to perform functions detailed in the learning materials of the qualification, such as administration duties, attend meetings and deal with customers. Your organisation may be medium or large, with more than 5 employees, in a range of building or industrial contexts, but you must have a supervisor with at least 3 years experience in a management role to oversee your learning activities, and be willing to sign off as you complete some tasks. Within the building industry, trade specific roles will qualify when students are involved in administration responsibilities of the business functions of their company such as when quoting, planning projects, attending tool box talks and assisting with accounts. Students will engage in regular meetings with their supervisors and understand work projects from start to finish and seek their own professional development, as per the WAA.
Final assessment tasks may be submitted up to two weeks following completion of course delivery.

Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters.
They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

Students will engage in regular meetings with their supervisors and understand work projects from start to finish and seek their own professional development, as per the WAA.
Final assessment tasks may be submitted up to two weeks following completion of course delivery.
